Who is this course for?

Any person intending to remove or work on non-friable (bonded) asbestos, whether a home renovator, trades person, maintenance, demolition or removal worker.

Typically this includes working on asbestos cement products like wall lining and roof cladding, and ranges to electrical backing boards and vinyl floor tiles.

Why should I do this course?

  • This course provides the basic skills and knowledge necessary to remove non-friable asbestos.
  • This accredited training course is required for all asbestos removal workers when dealing with non-friable asbestos greater than 10m2, under this prescribed accredited course number – conforming with both Australia and New Zealand regulation training requirements.
  • In addition, all those performing unlicensed removal work, that is working on less than 10m2 of non-friable asbestos material, are required to be trained. This training package satisfies the “suitable and adequate” training requirement prescribed in legislation for this work activity.
  • This course provides the foundation training necessary before Asbestos Supervisor Training can be undertaken relative to non-friable work.

What are the essential elements of the course?

  • Preparation for non-friable asbestos removal
  • Set up of the asbestos removal area and removal zone
  • The process involved to safely remove non-friable asbestos
  • Clean up work and appropriate transport and disposal
